3rd December 2009  London – The INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™ to recognise creativity in sustainability demonstrates its support of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition’s The Wave campaign by staging its very own Mexican Wave, ahead of crucial UN climate talks in Copenhagen.

“With less than a week to go before the COP15 conference, we’re extremely pleased and proud to be supporting The Wave. The INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™ ceremony on 18th November 2009 was one of the largest gatherings of influential environmental experts and green celebrities before the climate change conference and it was great to see over 350 guests showing their support of action on climate change by joining in with a Mexican Wave”, said Iain Patton, Managing Partner of GREEN Consultancy, producers and founders of the International Green Awards.

On Saturday 5 December 2009, the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate change will flood the streets of central London. The Wave, a carnival-style street procession beginning at 12pm from Grosvenor Square in London, is being organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. A stunning finale will take place at 3pm as The Wave encircles the Houses of Parliament.

Communications Manager of Stop Climate Chaos Coalition, Sarah Jenkinson, commented: “The Wave will send a strong message to Gordon Brown and to government that they need to do all that’s needed to deliver a strong and fair deal that puts poor people and the planet first at Copenhagen. To have the INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™ and its guests backing our call to action with their Mexican Wave is fantastic.”
