Dr Ania Grobicki – Executive Secretary, Global Water Partnership (GWP)

 

Ania GrobickiDr Ania Grobicki is Executive Secretary of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), based in Stockholm, Sweden, a position she has held since 2009.  GWP is a multi-stakeholder platform and a global action network now active in 80 countries, with over 2,500 partner organizations, united by a common vision for building a water secure world.

Ania has degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town and in Economics from the University of South Africa, together with a PhD in Biotechnology from Imperial College, London. Her experience and knowledge of water is extensive, and includes work on the water needs of industry, agriculture and energy, as well as research and practice related to water supply and reuse; water quality; water and health; effluent treatment technologies; and integrated catchment management.

 

She was the lead author for the UN´s 2nd World Water Development Report on the chapters on “Water and Industry” and “Water and Energy”.  Ania’s career has included experience in academia; in national policy development; as managing director of a consultancy business; and in international organizations, including the inception of the Challenge Programme on Water and Food.
